The Full Story

Hi, I’m Johnna! I’m a wife, mother of five, lifelong student of health and personal growth, and an emerging writer exploring the intersections of faith, grief, identity, agency, and healing.

My passion for holistic wellness began early, inspired by an aunt who was a nutritionist. That curiosity became deeply personal when my first husband was diagnosed with cancer in our early 30s. Together, we explored nutrition and alternative ways to support the body during his terminal illness. Following his passing, long-distance running became my sanctuary for navigating grief. As a single mom of four, I returned to school to study massage therapy and hydrotherapy, diving deep into anatomy, physiology, and pathology. These experiences rooted in me a fundamental truth: our physical bodies are inextricably connected to our emotions, environment, relationships, stress, and faith.

Later, I remarried a fitness professional, welcomed my fifth child, and co-founded a gym where we offered community group fitness classes. Movement and health became the heartbeat of both my personal and professional life. Yet, like many, I’ve experienced seasons where I lost touch with caring for myself amidst life's demands.

That is why the Optimal You Quest at Breakthrough 8.0 is so meaningful to me. Having gone through the Quest twice, each journey marked a pivotal turning point—a literal turning back toward myself with self-compassion and love. I discovered that honoring commitments to physical well-being creates a ripple effect into the environment, boundaries, work, relationships, and spiritual vitality.

As an Optimal You Quest Guide, I see this work as reconnecting with your personal agency: realizing that even when much of life feels outside your control, you still hold meaningful power over how you care for yourself and participate in your life. If you’re ready to reconnect with your health, energy, and excitement for life, I would love to walk alongside you. You don’t have to know every step ahead—you simply have to decide that your life is worth your attention, too.
